Causes and Symptoms of Allergies
An allergy in an animal is an abnormal and excessive reaction of the immune system generated by contact with a foreign substance generally to the body. A substance triggering an immune response is called an antigen, but it can also be an allergen in the case of allergy.
Allergens are well tolerated by the majority of animals. However, allergic animals trigger an inappropriate response, both excessive and pathologic. An allergy is a form of hypersensitivity. A harmless substance for some can cause an allergic reaction in other words a sensitivity. The most common allergic reactions include eczema, hives, asthma, food allergies and reactions to venom after an insects bite such as wasps and bees.
It is essential to check as often as possible the condition of the skin of your pet. When brushing, be careful to identify any problems from the beginning.
In itself, the itching is nothing to worry about. However, constant scratching can lead to more worrying problems such as loss of hair, skin lesions and severe infections. Your dog or cat will feel uncomfortable and could be in pain.
In each case, it is important to relieve your cat or dog from this, either to better cure the condition after the cause has been identified or to relieve and reduce the frequency of itching in animals suffering from this condition. Many holistic vets believe that itching is an indication that the physical condition of your pet is not as good as it should be.
Which food causes allergies for your pet?
In the case of a proven allergy it is first necessary to change the diet by choosing suitable products for allergic pets. The chosen food should contain a source of highly digestible protein and grain products and minimally processed vegetables. You can even consider feeding your pet a food that you make yourself at home or you can buy already prepared. In some cases, diet change has enabled a complete cure from itching in some dogs and cats.
Except those sold through your veterinarian, you can find a few organic brands online. It is also worth thinking about the materials in contact with your pet. Start by changing the floor cleaner. Do not shampoo your carpet, use white vinegar diluted in water. Also remember to wash your pet with a soft hypoallergenic shampoo. If you are unable to identify the allergen source, consult a vet.
